This afternoon (July 30), Barb Charlton and I had an adult Eared Grebe at the Exeter Sewage Ponds. It was just starting to moult out of breeding plumage. The bird was in the second pond at these lagoons with a flock of Ruddy Ducks, and is likely the same bird that has appeared here the past few years.
Directions: From Hwy 4 in Exeter, go west on County Rd 83 to the first concession, Airport Rd, and turn left. Go south about 0.5 km and the lagoons are on the left side. Enter at the laneway at the south end. Note that the lagoons are posted.
