In case you still need to see a Red-headed Woodpecker, we had several in the
Niagara Region this morning. Scope not too necesssary, but you may have to look
100 acres west across a field to get good looks...I first saw it close to the
road.

Directions: From the QEW take the Victoria Road (road 24)exit in Vineland and
go south up the escartment. Turn right on Fly Road (Niagara 73), and go a few
km. Turn left on Tintern Road (if you get to Camden Road you went a block too
far). Stop just past the second bridge a few km south of 73 and wait and watch.
You will probably hear them call before you see them.

Good luck!

Ken

Sorry, I did not follow Ontbirds rules by adding my address and phone # to my
new computer, but at least I beat the administrator to making the correction.

Cheers,

As of today, we again have access to the Port Perry lagoons. There was
apparently some error that caused the locks to be inadvertently disabled.
Durham Region has restored the locks and has apologized for the inconvenience.
Permit holders may once again access the lagoons. There still is ongoing
construction so please be careful when you enter. Enjoy!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Permits must be purchased in advance of entering the lagoons. They cost $5.00
as they did last year.

The permits may be purchased at the Durham Region Transfer Site located at 1623
Reach Rd, Port Perry during the following business hours .... Tuesday,
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday from
8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. To get to the transfer station, travel north on Hwy 12
past Port Perry [Hwy 7A] to the next traffic lights [Regional Road 8 = Reach
Rd.] and travel east to #1623 on the north side of the road.

The lagoons are located one road north of the transfer site east off Hwy 12 on
Concession Rd. 8 [don't get confused as, despite the fact that these roads are
both numbered "8", they are two different roads - one is a regional paved road,
the other a dirt concession road.]
