Another very busy morning here at Rondeau, with large numbers of warblers moving through the park. The South Point area again seemed to be the best area with big numbers of Cape May, N. Parula, Tennessee, and Yellow-rumped Warblers still moving through. There were also 4 Mourning Warblers and 3 Orange-crowned seen along this stretch. Godlen-winged Warblers were reported from both South Point and the Pony Barns. Also at the Pony Barns were good numbers of mixed warblers and 2 Olive-sided Flycatchers. Prothonotary Warblers have been seen on Tulip Tree, Bennett rd. and Spicebush trail. Chuck-wlls-widow was again heard calling from the visitor center parking lot last night, starting calling at 8:52pm and was still singing at 9:20. Yesterday afternoon there was sub-species of interest and Oregon Junco was feeding at a feeder on Lakeshore Rd. Also seen late yesterday was a Common Nighthawk flying over the fields just north of the park.
Good Birding, Ross Wood Directions: Fron hi-way 401 (approx 50 minutes west of London) take exit 101 and head south. Follow the signs into the park. Once in the park to reach the visitor center continue following Rondeau Rd. back 7km. ---------------------------------------- Upgrade your account today for increased storage; mail forwarding or POP enabled e-mail with automatic virus scanning. The owl is in a bush with white flowers slightly above eye level. You can park either on Triller Place (off Lakeshore just west of the bridge) or at the east end of Riverview St. (off Mississaga St.). Look for a sign that says Riverview Park. From that sign follow path that goes above the pond until you see area where the underbrush has been clear down to the pond. The owl is just back from there. Over the years I have heard Screech-Owls from our window on occasion but this is the first time that I have seen one in this area. There is a Great Egret in the pond right now. Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Road and go to Lakeshore Rd. and turn right. Cross the bridge over Bronte Creek and make the first right onto Triller Place. There is a path between the houses.
