Hi all,
The RUFF first reported on Saturday is still present as of Monday evening.
There are many other species of shorebirds present, as well as passing
birds. Lapland Longspurs have been passing through in large numbers the
last few days.
You are welcome to look for the Ruff on this property as it continues to be
present.
I have a photo of the Ruff up on the OFO photo page.
Directions: Find hwy 40 which runs from Chatham to Sarnia. Just north of
Wallaceburg turn east onto Langstaff Line. Travel east past first
intersection (Forhan St.), then a further short distance. Before the bridge,
turn left onto Nelson St. extension that follows the river. Travel about
one and a half kilometres to no. 1612 on right side. Go up laneway and park
in front of horse barns. Walk behind the barns following arrows to the edge
of the wetland.
Keep in mind this is all private property, but as long as the Ruff is there,
you are quite welcome.
Also you might want to check Stewart Wetland at the very west end of
Langstaff Line for more shorebirds and others. At the west end of
Langstaff, turn left at MacDonald Park and go short distance to boat ramp.
