8am today at Reesor Pond 1 Whimbrel - it called once as it flew away -
  probably
headed for Lake Simcoe where they are occasionally seen - given the
  traditional
migration date of this species, it seemed quite early - also present
  was an adult
Lesser black-backed gull - an Iceland & Glaucous gull showed up
  Thursday - a
singing Common yellowthroat on April 19 seemed early & of note was the
  first
Wild turkey seen here on April 9 [south of Hwy 7] - only five other
  shorebird
species have shown at Reesor Pond and the dewponds on the Bypass to
  date
  - mixed flocks of up to 28 Yellowlegs have gone through during the
  last 2 days.

Reesor Pond lies on the West side of Reesor Road just North of Hwy 407
  in
Markham - cheers - Stan Long

Birding has been slow the past few days except for a large influx of
Yellow-rumped Warblers on April 27. Single Wood Thrushes and Red-eyed
Vireos were reported earlier in the week.

Today, 8 species of warblers are present including 1 Louisiana Waterthrush
and 1 Cerulean Warbler. The most sought after bird this morning was a
Sedge Wren in the tip woods. All 3 scoter species showed at the tip along
with a 1st year Glaucous Gull. A swallow with an all white head caused a
momentary adrenalin rush until it was identified as an aberrant Tree
Swallow.

Few shorebirds have reported so far from the Hillman Shorebird cell. Three
Least Sandpipers and a male Eurasian Wigeon were present yesterday.

Just as this report was being prepared a call from Wheatley Harbour
announced that a Purple Sandpiper was on the beach.
