Saw and photographed two Red-shouldered Hawks today about 5pm at Fitzroy Provincial Park west of Ottawa. Directions: 417 west to Kinburn exit - north on Kinburn to the old Hwy 17. Turn left and take first right that goes to Galetta and Fitzroy Provincial Park. Saw the birds coming south from the Ottawa River towards the parking lot. The park is not open yet but you can go as far as the parking lot and then hike in. Bonniebrae Point Oshawa Lakewatch A large flight of Red-necked Grebes tonight with sprinkling of Horned Grebes, Little Gulls, and White-winged Scoters April 19 6:55pm to 8:10pm 461 Red-necked Grebes 18 Horned Grebes 74 White-winged Scoters 4 Little Gulls left the Oshawa Second Marsh shortly after 8pm on the way to their roost. April 18 6:35 to 8:00 pm 145 Red-necked Grebes 31 Horned Grebes 22 White-winged Scoters The scoters and grebes all fly towards the west. The gulls fly towards the south west where they roost each night some where several KM offshore and return each morning Directions to Bonniebrae point. Bonniebrae point in situated on Lake Ontario between Thickson's woods and Oshawa Second Marsh. >From the 401 Take either exit 417 Simcoe st (eastbound only) or 418 Ritson road. Take either Ritson rd. or Simcoe St south from the 401. Where Ritson and Simcoe st intersect (firehall on North side of intersection), take Simcoe st south towards the lake. At Oshawa Harbour take a right onto Lakeview Park Ave. Turn left on either Kluane Ave or Birchcliffe ave. Both these streets end at the Bonniebrae point parking lot.
