April 17, Another fine afternoon at Columbia Lake in North Waterloo, produced some nice sightings.
There have been a small flock of Buffleheads in the lake for about two weeks engaging in their head-bobbing courtship behaviour, and always quite visible out in the open water. Four Caspian Terns were sharing Western shoreline with all the gulls. A Greater Yellowlegs was wading and fishing in the shallows on the North side of the lake. A first for me! Columbia Lake is North of the University of Waterloo Campus at the intersection of Columbia and Westmount streets.
