Bill Broderick phoned to say he had two PURPLE SANDPIPERS at Goat Island directly out from the third Sister Island as you look towards Canada. There is a dead tree out there that forms a crescent. The birds were on a small rock down river and towards the American side from the tree. >From the Ontario side, you should look from the Ontario Hydro building (probably the upriver side) which is about 1/2 mile above the falls. Greeting all, Just an update to say that the two Black-necked Stilts are still in the wastewater polishing pond as of 1700h. Also, the adjacent landowner just contacted me to let me know that they have been here since yesterday - 10 April. Directions: From Hwy. 401 take Cty. Rd. 30 south to Brighton. Go south through the two traffic lights, over the railway tracks, and as you near the Lake the road (Prince Edward St. at this point) swings left. The ponds are on the south (right) side just as you complete the turn. There is a viewing deck and the birds are about 100-150m away, about 45 degrees to the left if you are looking straight out from the deck.
