A rare sighting for our area: 2 Thayer's Gulls at the Pembroke Marina, right downtown Pembroke, observed at 7:00 p.m. One flew right by me, and landed on floating ice beside an other one. Nearby, one bufflehead diving amidst floating ice of melting Ottawa River.

Yesterday, I observed 1 Tundra Swan resting along with about 200 Canada Geese in a field west of #202 Snake River Line, close to Cobden Road. To get there, take HWY 17 to Cobden. Turn south at the only traffic lights, then right at Snake River Line.

A coworker photographed a Great Horned Owl at 8:00 in the morning, just last week, sitting on a tree right by his house, in Petawawa, beside the Petawawa Terrace Provincial Nature Reserve. They have been very rare these past few years in our area.

Happy sightings!
