Hi Everyone
No problem finding Snowy Owls on Wolfe Island today. With no snow they stood out well and we counted a grand total of 12. Most owls were west of the 7th Line Road. We also observed 5 Red-tailed Hawk, 3 American Kestrel and 2 Great Horned Owl in the woods at the cemetery. With only a bit of ice on a few bays, water birds were scattered, but nothing unusual. On our drive home we saw 106 Bohemian Waxwing just east of Smiths Falls. Yesterday, Feb.3rd did some late afternoon birding along the Ottawa River near Remic Rapids and observed 2 male Barrow's Goldeneye, 2 (m,f) Bufflehead, 17 Common Merganser and 280+ Common Goldeneye towards dusk. There were also 75+ G.B.B, 5 Glaucous, 30 Herring and 1 adult (migrant?) Ring-billed Gull. The previously reported, dead Snowy Owl, found along Brownlee Road near Richmond was determined to be electrocuted. good birding
