A nice day for chatting. Raptor Observations: Very few. Early birds near tower. Afternoon birds north of tower. Vultures were not normally seen in 8.5X binocs but were found by scanning with 20X scope. Even then the the birds in small kettles came in and out of view. The haze and distance played tricks on counting TVs and RTs. The Merlin and Peregrine were close birds and either too fast or too much in the sun or both for good long looks. Some got pictures of the PG after it perched over the road SW of and out of view of the tower. Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jays 7,050. Others: White-breasted Nuthatch, American Pipit, Rusty Blackbird, Kingfisher, Gt. Yellow-legs, 5,000 mixed blackbirds (red-wings, cowbirds, grackles), Starlings 1,000. Monarch Butterflies-3. Predictions: NW winds, partly cloudy. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Bob Pettit ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/
