Ontbirders

This afternoon between 3:30 and 4:30 PM we watched an adult Ruff along the
east side of the north east lagoon at Townsend. It had heavy blackish
spots/blotches on the breast and flanks and still quite a lot of alternate
back, scapular and covert feathers, which seemed surprising for so late in
the year. It was either a small male or a female. Difficult to sex by size
as it was at neither at the large nor the small end for this species.
