Hi folks, We had some glitches getting our first week of counts for the Hawk Cliff hawkwatch entered in a timely fashion...I decided to provide a quick summary for those who are interested. :) Note that the September 11th counts have been posted in the usual format in a separate email..
You'll notice there's still been no large movement of Broadwings. We're anticipating the possibility of a good flight either this Thursday or Friday given current winds are forecast as NW and N in the wake of a reasonably strong cold front passing through the area on Wednesday. the close company of Ring-billed and Herring gulls] - an adult in full sunlight - no nape streaking - dark grey mantle - black primaries - pale yellow legs - bright yellow bill that was unusual in that it had a subterminal red bar - [not just a red spot on the gonys] - the bypass runs N of Hwy 7 - 1 km & a bit, East of the Ninth Line in Markham - cheers - S Long
