At 0705 to 733 an adult Sooty Tern flew past the Long Point Provincial Park 1km
west of the park boundary. The bird was originally spotted by Mike Boyd about
500m off shore heading west. It was followed by myself, Mike and Ross Wood as
it continued west for a few kilometers then it began heading east until it was
lost over the lake. It was viewed between 500m and 2km offshore.

Other interesting species included up to 5 Long-tailed Jaegers (2 adult, others
unknown) working there way back and forth along the lake between 0645 and 0830.
 One Parasitic was also spotted.

Other species noted were -

Black-bellied Plover - 19
Am. Golden Plover - 6
Semi-P Plover - 2
Whimbrel - 1
Sanderling - 40
Ruddy Turnstone - 5
Semi-P Sand - 3
Merlin
Common Tern - 200
Forsters Tern - 4

and the usual gulls...

Hi Everyone
Today at 7:15am I observed a flock of 53 adult (moulting) Hudsonian
Godwits at Shirley's Bay. They were resting and feeding just west of the
dyke, likely brought down by the heavy rains and wind associated with the
trail end of the hurricane. Other shorebirds noted between Shirley's Bay
and Britannia Pier were 3 ad. Ruddy Turnstone, 22 Black-bellied Plover, 46
Semipalmated Plover, 36 Pectoral Sandpiper, 1 Baird's Sandpiper and 1 Stilt
Sandpiper.

                                                      heading back out,
good birding
