Blenheim Sewage Lagoons Update (Sat. p.m.):
Today there were two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES together in pond 5.
The WILSON'S PHALAROPE was still present also, as was the BUFF-BREASTED
SANDPIPER.
A Baird's Sandpiper was present, as well as several newly-arrived Stilt
Sandpipers.
Pond 5 is at the back and is excellent for shorebirds. The Buff-breasted is
in and out of the weeds.
Lagoon Directions: Exit 401 at #90 (Communications Rd.) and head into
Blenheim. At the main stoplight turn right (west) onto Rd. 3. Travel about
1.5 km and turn right (north) onto Lagoon Rd. at the carwash, and continue
north about 1 km to gate. You must have an annual permit to enter.
