Hello Ontbirders, Just a note to let you know that there is currently a juvenile female Peregrine Falcon cruising around southwestern Ontario wearing a backpack satellite transmitter. From a distance you may spot only the small antenna sticking up from her back; from closer the small transmitter unit itself may be visible too.
Her most recent location (overnight Aug 18/19 and through the morning of August 19) was just on the outskirts of Port Elgin. I imagine she may pay a visit to MacGregor Point Provincial Park ... but given that in the past week she has also been in Buffalo and Toronto, it's realistic to assume that anywhere is fair game (especially including other cities with peregrines). If you are interested in following her movements, I am posting regular updates at www.migrationresearch.org/research/peregrine/results2005.html While the satellite data provide us with a good overview of her location each day, I'd nonetheless appreciate a private e-mail with details of any sightings you may have while she's in Ontario. Thanks, Marcel Gahbauer Montreal QC [EMAIL PROTECTED]
