Hello.
This morning at 9.am. there was a single PIPING PLOVER on the
Beach of the NATURE RESERVE South of P9 in the PINERY PROVINCIAL PARK. It
was with two SPOTTED SANDPIPERS.
Yesterday there was a big flock of WHIMBREL in the same
NATURE RESERVE.
The area is NOT PROTECTED from disturbance. There are no signs to
indicate a Nature Reserve which contains at least five ENDANGERED
SPECIES. (The only token barrier was ordered removed by the Superintendent
last September and then signs were promised by the Minister himself.)
Picnic area #9 is the nearest area to the Visitor Center. If the
lake is calm, look for RED-THROATED LOONS that sometimes congregate there.
Directions.
Pinery Park is situated in SW. Ontario in North Lambton County.
From London take the 401 and then onto 402 to the Highway 81 exit.
Head for Parkhill and then continue to Grand Bend. At the traffic lights at
the junction with highway 21, turn left and after about 10Km. you will come
to the Pinery entrance on your right.
Good Birding.
