Friday, May 27, we observed over 900 Whimbrel flying in groups of 25 to 150 as they passed in front of our cottage overlooking Long Point Bay. The vast majority of the birds were seen between 7:30 and 8:30 AM. Another 200 plus were seen this morning, Saturday, May 28.
Yesterday afternoon we checked numerous shoreline spots where Whimbrel might have landed but to no avail. Chauncey & Sarah Wood [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Our cottage is six KM west of Port Dover in the unincorporated hamlet of Port Ryerse. The flights of Whimbrel could have been observed from any overlook from Port Dover to the Long Point Causeway.
