Hello Ontbirders

Further to Ron Pittaway's post, I easily found the adult LAUGHING GULL on Hall's Road today at about 1pm. It was in a field on the west side of the road, closer to Victoria Street than to the lake. I watched it for about 5 minutes, at which time it flew off. I returned about 30 minutes later and again at 3pm, but did not refind it.

I would also like to mention that I have recently uploaded large numbers of wonderful photos by many talented Ontario photographers to the OFO photo page, at www.ofo.ca/photos They include Lark Sparrow, Kirtland's Warbler, Summer Tanager, Great Tit, Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Glossy Ibis, Worm-eating Warbler and many others. Please take a look.

Directions to the Laughing Gull:

Exit the 401 in Ajax at Salem Road. Go south to Bayly and turn left (east). Hall's Road is the next road east of Lakeridge Road. Turn right (south).

I observed 1 singing White-eyed Vireo at around 930 this morning in the first patch of streamside willows near the University Ave. W. entrance to Hillside Park in Waterloo. I did not relocate the bird when I returned to the spot at 1130, but vocalizations were beginning to die down at mid-day.

Other notable birds included Olive-sided, Willow, and Yellow-bellied Flycatchers, and Mourning, Canada, and Wilson's Warblers.

Directions: The University Ave. W. entrance to Hillside Park is immediately west of the interchange with Highway 85 (formerly Hwy 86). Park in the drive of the water treatment plant, cross the bridge, and the path begins shortly on your right.

Point Pelee Report for May 28 (Saturday)

Limited bird song and few spotters has resulted in very few reports from
the Park today.

A lone Whimbrel was resting on the Tip this morning.

Common Nighthawk was beside the Main Road close to the Northern portion of
the Tram Loop at the Tip.

A singing Mourning Warbler was observed behind the Visitor Centre near Post
#2.

An Alder Flycatcher was seen in Tilden's.

Seen at Hillman Marsh this morning were Least Sandpiper, Little Gull, and a
Short-billed Dowitcher.
