Big news for the day seems to be a KIRTLAND'S WARBLER at Sanctuary Picnic area, seen out towards the beach. Also seen in the same area were Yellow-breasted Chat, Connecticut Warbler, and White-eyed Vireo. A good number of migrants arrived for our viewing pleasure this morning at the Tip. In fact, there was quite a good "reverse migration." Among other species taking part were Scarlet Tanagers, Indigo Bunting, Baltimore Orioles, Bobolink, and species of warbler including Black-throated Green, Blackburnian and scads of Yellow. There was a report of a Dickcissel as well. Also reported from the Tip, White-eyed Vireo, Golden-winged Warbler, Brewster's Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler and many other common migrants. The Grasshopper Sparrow, seen along the west side of Tip a few hundred metres north of the tram loop. Reports are coming in from all along the west side of the park, from Sleepy Hollow north to Sanctuary that there are many migrants there. Species reported include Blue-winged and Golden-winged Warlbers. At West Beach there was an Olive-sided Flycatcher. We have heard that the Marbled Godwit is still over at the Shorebird Habitat at Hillman Marsh. Sorry if our messages haven't been getting out to some of you, but apparently the Park server is only working intermittently.
