I'd just finished one of the less pleasant aspects of Spring (mowing the lawn) when I heard a distinctive 'chink', and sure enough there was a gorgeous Rose Breasted Grosbeak scarfing down the buds on a crabapple. It seems a tad early, as usually the buds on this tree have opened when they arrive.
