Hello Ontario birders: I want to update those planning to attend the Algonquin Park field trip for OFO members on Saturday, April 23, starting at the West Gate on Highway 60 at 9 a.m.
Please be aware of the following: - snow in coniferous and bog areas in Algonquin Park is still extensive (knee-deep in some shaded areas, with pools of meltwater underneath): HIGH, WATERPROOF FOOTWEAR WILL BE REQUIRED TO ACCESS THOSE LOCATIONS. - come prepared for cold, and possibly wet weather: THE FORECAST FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY HERE IS PERIODS OF RAIN OR SNOW, WIND, AND TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 2 TO 4 DEGREES C. Given the recent run of sunny and warm days, especially in southern Ontario, I thought it important to alert birders to the conditions we may experience here this weekend. Good birding.
