Turkey Vulture 49 Osprey 2 Bald Eagle 2 Northern harrier 16 Sharp-shinned Hawk 46 Cooper's Hawk 3 Northern Goshawk 1 Red-shouldered Hawk 1 Broad-winged Hawk 5 Red-tailed Hawk 108 Rough-legged Hawk 21 American Kestrel 3 Merlin 1 Unidentified Accipiter 1 Unidentified Buteo 7 Unidentified Raptor 1
Total 267 - Conditions were really tough as birds were scattered at all points of the compass and the flight paths were everywhere #$%^&)( - birds were often high in a cloudless sky and far away ... nonetheless a great day. We saw a total of 52 species of birds at the point including Rough-winged Swallow, Pine and Yellow-rumped Warblers, five species of woodpeckers including Red-bellied Woodpecker, several Common Loons, Ruby-cr. Kinglet, Field Sparrow, two Fox Sparrows and a spectacular Purple Finch in high plumage. Just north of Beamer on the 10th line [west of Ridge Road] we saw 31 Pectoral Sandpipers and a Dunlin beside the railroad tracks in a small pond. At the foot of Bronte Rd. in Oakville we saw 21 Red-necked Grebes and the oft-reported Harlequins. Geoff Carpentier Ajax, Ontario
