Today as I was leaving work at the Independent Grocers in Exeter the
front end staff told me there was a different bird in the Outdoor
furniture enclosure. One of the workers startled it up from behind the
boxes against the window....It was/is a Virginia Rail....This was at
noon and I thought it might be dead by now as it didn't fly but kept
running under cars and back to the enclosure. Rose Welch was in Exeter
this evening and saw it at 10pm in the same area running back and forth
in front of the big window....Exeter is north of London on Highway 4 and
Hansen's YIG is on Highway 83 east of the last set of lights in Exeter..
Hopefully it will be in some nice swamp by tomorrow...but maybe it will
still be there.....Carol McNall
