Hi all....thought this was interesting

My family and I were watching a mallard eating birdseed under our feeder
yesterday at dinner time. I turned away, then caught movement out of the
corner of my eye. I told my son that there was now two mallards.....until I
realized that there was a hawk sitting on the mallard. The two birds
struggled for a while.... the second duck....which turned out to be an imm.
goshawk attempted to fly away with its prize. It flew for about 30 feet
then had to land. At this point .... to my son's cheers.... the mallard
began hitting the goshawk in the head with its wing. The stunned hawk let
go and the duck got away. The hawk sat on the snow for about five minutes
collecting its thoughts, then departed.
The duck returned today... sporting somewhat of a mohawk left by its
encounter with goshawk. No sign of the goshawk since.
