I live in the Rochester, NY area and have recently started birding and joined several of the birding email lists. Based on the GGO descriptions on ONTBIRDS I decided to make a trip last weekend to the Orillia area. I had a wonderful trip and found the GGO observing to be so amazing. I observed around 16-17 GGO in the Orillia Mule Pt Road area. I also drove a few roads outside the ones listed before. I saw three GGO owls along Concession Road 11 between SR 20 and SR25. I also saw a ruffled grouse in that section. I saw 4 GGO along sideroad 15 from hway 12 to CR7. After that I had a great time driving CR5 and SR 5 to the canal area. I saw two barred owls near the intersection of CR5 and SR5, one on each road. I also saw a Merlin on one of the Thorah CR roads. I think it was Thorah CR road 7 or 8. The Great Grey Owls are amazing creatures, I really appreciate getting the information so I could visit with them. Gail Price, Rochester
