Thanks to John Haselmayer for directions to see the Great Gray Owl.
Five members of the Bruce Birding Club went out this morning to see the owl and
were successful in finding one owl. The Great Gray Owl was spotted on the north
side of Warner Bay Rd. before you get to the house with fire #175. There is a
bump sign on the road side and it was in this area where it was spotted. There
are a lot of evergreens about 100 to 200 metres back off the road and it was
perched in the trees to get out of the inclement weather. It was spotted with
binoculars first and then we had good views of it through a scope surveying his
domain. The weather then turned nasty and we hightailed it back to Southampton.
Other birds seen on the trip were lots of Ravens, Crows and Starlings at the
Tobermory dump.

Warner Bay road is approximately 3 kms south of Tobermory. There is a sign on
Hwy. #6 for Warner Bay Rd. and Tobermory airport. Turn left and go west till
you see the sign for Fire #175. The woods were on the right the north side of
the road.

I was away for a month in Texas but was delighted to discover on my return
March 4 that the suet had persisted and was still being attended by the
kinglet

First seen January 22, the bird shows up irregularly at the suet feeder at
the rear of 89 Constance, Toronto (east side of High Park).

New for my all-time March list!
