Hello all;

I have not been on ontbirds this winter, so have not been following the Owl
invasion. But I signed back on to make this posting.

Because we had a great siting yesterday.

This afternoon, about 4:00 my wife and father saw a great grey owl fly into a
spruce in our neighbours yard. It briefly landed, then flew up our street,
right over their car.

They are positive of the siting, as they have both seen a variety of owls.
They clearly saw the round , stripped face and dark edges to the very long
wings.

It flew off to the west

The sitting was at:
45 Hartfield Court
Etobicoke

Hartfield Court is west of Royal York Road ,not far west of the Humber river,
just north of Dundas.
Our part of the city is decently treed, with ravines and valleys. Our street,
has had an owl before and a variety of hawk species.

Have people seen these owls in the city before?

Have "our" Great Grays of Hall's Rd.shifted allegiance! Thanks to Ron
Stephenson -he reported GGOs on Shoal Pt. Rd. from sunup to after 8:30a.m.
on Saturday, Mar.5. I caravaned cars over there, and we counted 5 perched
and flying over the field to the immediate east of rthe road. There was also
one, seen by Rayfield Pye, in the big subdivision to the east of Lynde
Marsh.

Now then, Arlene Brazeau has 2 superb photos of Welcome's N.Hawk Owl-- 1
showing how the bird responds to people who approach far too closely -- a
caller asked for and received permission to post them--

I hope you can access it. If not email me.

Exit 401 at Salem Rd., south to Bayly, then right/west (not east), to the
2nd traffic light-- Shoal Pt. Rd.-- south beyond the stop sign, keeping an
eye on the trees and fields to the east.
