A trip to Lynde Shores and Halls Road today didn't start very well with no sign
of either the Barred or GGO, everyone I met said the same thing " was seen this
morning but not since". I almost gave up the hunt but decided to go back to
Lynde Shores and give it one last go before returning home, good thing i
decided to stay. The Barred Owl was on the bird trail out the back edge of the
woods, I shared the sighting with a few other birders before calling it a good
day and heading home. Also of note in Lynde Shores was a Red-bellied
Woodpecker, Redwings, Grackle and Cowbirds. On Halls Road I spotted a Brown
Creeper quietly circling a tree, otherwise all the expected winter species on
hand.

>From Victoria St. in southwest Whitby, go south along either Lakeridge Rd.
or, 1 block east, Hall's Rd.

Lynde Shores is on Victoria just east of Halls Road.

Good birding to one and all

Hi Everyone
Spent the day birding the Ottawa area. The Northern Hawk-Owl was present
this morning in the Gatineau Park along trail #5/#29. The was a cross
country ski competition going on with a few hundred skiers which made the
walking harder.
A few flocks of Bohemian Waxwings were seen there and later in the day
along Rifle Road off Carling Ave. We also saw 3 Northern Shrikes, 1 near
Carling Ave. and Moodie Drive, 1 along March Valley Road and 1 along
Woodroffe Ave.near Meadowlands Drive. There were 8 or 9 Great Gray Owls
along March Valley Road and only 2 were seen in Dunrobin Road/Kilmaurs Road
area.
The flock Gray Partridge were still present near the corner of Moodie
Drive and Brophy Road this afternoon. If you require additional
information please email me privately.
                                                    good birding
                                                        Bruce

Directions: GGO/ From Ottawa travel west bound on Hwy. 417 to the March
Rd./Eagleson Road and exit right onto March Rd. Follow to Klondike Road and
turn right. Go east to March Valley Road and turn left or right. Follow
along making numerous stops scanning the fields. Late afternoon to dusk
maybe the better time to look.
