In spite of very foggy environs all day on Feb.5 the many visitors from
around Ontario and 5 US states were rewarded with superb looks at a Barred
Owl and both male & female Pileated Woodpeckers, the latter being between
9AM and 2PM. The Barred flew low through onlookers several times, and he had
2 successful vole catches.
Great Gray Owls were found in various locales in the Lynde Shores C.A., and
then towards dusk over on Lakeridge Rd.
A Long-eared Owl was heard along the south path off Hall's Rd.
Other birds included--Red-bellied Woodpecker, Brown Creeper, Swamp Sparrow,
Song Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, House Finch, Am. Robins, 3 Rusty
Blackbirds, winter male and female Red-winged Blackbirds, several Immature
male RWBBs, N.Shrike, Red-tailed Hawk, Sharp-shinned Hawk.

Hall's Rd. runs south from Victoria St. in southwest Whitby.
