Lately, if you want roadside Great Gray Owls--best times are between 7 and
8AM or after 4PM. But, with daytime patience, you may find 1 of the 3 or 4
that are still around. The fields are still "rampant" with voles.
We do have a very human-tolerant Barred Owl that actively takes voles
throughout the day. He is usually in the vicinity of the bird feeder at the
north path entrance. With luck you may see a Great Horned Owl or a
Long-eared Owl-the latter was last reported on Tuesday along the south
pathway .

Good birds today-- Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at 0820 along the south pathway;
male Pileated Woodpecker at many locales during the morning; 3 Rusty
Blackbirds with Red-wingeds at the feeder area; N.Shrike atop a tree near
the bird feeder, as well as at the north end of Hall's Rd.; a MERLIN over
the fields at the north end in late AM; imm. male Sharp-shinned Hawk; adult
dark morph Rough-legged Hawk, a male R-n PHEASANT on the road in mid-AM, and
both Swamp and Song Sparrows feeding near the north platform.

For the past 3 days 1 or 2 Hoary Redpolls have been feeding with a number of
Common Redpolls at 3525 Audley Rd.--1 concession west of Lakeridge Rd. and
0.5 km. south of highway 7.

For Hall's Rd.-- from the west exit the 401 at Salem Rd.(in Ajax), south to
Bayly, east through Lakridge Rd. to the first street (Hall's Rd.), south to
either of the 2 roadside parking areas. From the east exit 401 at Brock St.
(in Whitby), south to Victoria St., west to Hall's Rd.
