Four waterfowl are wintering just below the dam in Omemee, a male Hooded
Merganser, a Pied-billed Grebe, a female Mallard and a Canada Goose with
missing primaries on one wing. There are three bridges over the Pigeon
River in Omemee. One at highway #7, avoid it. Use the bridge at the dam,
one street south of the highway. If the ice melts, you may have to use the
old railway bridge 2 blocks north of the bridge. It has been turned into a
wonderful walking path and gives a great view up the river.
Omemee is on highway #7 between Lindsay and Peterborough.
Bob and Mary Hartley, R R #4, Omemee.
