Birded for a couple of hours on Amherst Island with my brother and
nephew and found 1 GREAT GRAY OWL, 2 BOREAL OWLS, 1 LONG-EARED OWL and 1
SNOWY OWL. A GREAT HORNED OWL was spotted by other observers. Other good
birds include 1 BROWN THRASHER, 2 COMMON REDPOLLS, 30 GADWALLS, 1 NORTHERN
PINTAIL and 3 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS.
According to other reports, it seems that GREAT GRAY OWLS are pushing
farther south into the Kingston region with many being seen along the
Bellrock Road and in the Sydenham area.
