A GGO was seen at the same location on both Sunday and Monday afternoons, just
west of the footbridge on the north side of the pond.

Bruce Pit is in Ottawa, on the east side of Cedarview Road, opposite Bell High

Birders

The CBC in Stratford done on 27 December, yeilded fewer species and birds
than last year, but there was one outstanding species. While Wild Turkeys
are occassionally seen around Stratford, the best evidence we usually get on
bird count day is tracks. Last year none were found on count day. This year
they were seen everywhere - 55 were reported on that day. Our group saw the
first Northern Shrike seen on our count since 1998.

A Trumpeter Swan has taken up residence in the Thames River in Mitchell,
west of Stratford. Today 4 Mute Swans appeared in Lake Victoria in Queen's
Park. Mute Swans in Stratford - what a surprise. But, these are not the
domesticated swans people see all summer. These birds have been taken in
for the winter. The new birds may be the family of swans that summers in
Wildwood Lake near Harrington.

A single male Hooded Merganser is attempted to defend his honour against the
hundreds of Male Mallards in Lake Victoria in Stratford.

Directions for Mitchell swan: Mitchell is 18 km west of Stratford on
Highway 8. The swan is most often in the Thames River north of the dam
adjacent to Optimist' Park.

Must fly
