On Monday, January 3 at 9 AM I saw three Harlequin Ducks just west of Bronte
Harbour. Two males and one female. The birds were close to shore between
Bronte Bluffs and Bronte Cemetery. I viewed them from the lighthouse pier.
Some other birds in the area: 3 Trumpeter Swans, Greater Scaup, Redhead and
far offshore Red-necked Grebes and White-winged Scoters. Yesterday an adult
Bald Eagle flew over.
Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Rd. (Oakville) and go to the lake. The
pier is visible from the end of Bronte Rd. Alternatively turn right at
Lakeshore Rd. and cross Bronte Creek then left at West River Street. View
from the end of the road.
