(25' front front door where I was watching the owl from-Xmas lights on the
tree helped illuminate the owl!); sat for 15+ minutes then pounced on a rat
under the feeder and carried it over to the Scot's Pine; there until at
least 12:30 a.m. but gone the next morning; used Sibley's to verify ...
initially thought Saw-whet ... but darker and larger, verified with yellow
bill. I did a short preliminary walk around the block and couldn't relocate
the owl this morning ... we are in the middle of some major work on our
studio and I would appeciate not looking for owl in MY yard because at the
moment IT'S NOT HERE. The neighbors all known about my birding obsession
... so by all means feel free to ask them permission to check their back
yards. Thanks for understanding.

Port Credit is 'Mississauga-on-the-Lake', at the end of Hwy. #10 (or
Hurontario Street) at Lakeshore; Oakwood north is four block east of the
intersection, and 9 Oakwood is second house North of Lakeshore (behind the
brown apartment, then the red brick bungalow, then the stucco studio/garage
which is front the stucco house where owl was seen).

Hi,

Sorry for the late posting:

For those keeping count of such things, I thought I should note that there
were at least 4, possibly 5 Great Gray Owls at Halls Rd, Whitby on Wednesday
December 29th. In addition, there were 2 Barred Owls present at the north
trail to the marsh. Perhaps one of the two Barred Owls was one seen earlier
at Lynde Shore Conservation Area. There was also 3 Rough-legged Hawks, one
of which was a dark morph, and a adult male Northern Harrier.

Good birding,

Karl Konze
