Whitby has seemingly "adopted" a tall, graceful, elegant Sandhill Crane. Of late, on most days, he can be seen among a large group of Canada Geese, either strutting or sitting on the ice or shoreline to the west of the Brock St. bridge that crosses over Pringle Creek. I could NOT find the Glaucous Gull today, either there or down at the harbour area. In the creek water I saw Hooded Mergansers and Pintails.
Exit the 401 at Brock St. in Whitby, south through Victoria St. to the flatland of the creek. Hall's Rd. is home for several raptors lately--mostly Red-taileds. There is an abundance of meadow voles and I have seen a fair number of Cottontails. The north pathway feeder and environs-- House Finches, occasional Redpolls, 5-7 Cardinals, 3 Blue Jays, 1 or 2 White-throated Sparrows, 1 Song Sp., many Tree Sparrows and Juncos.
