17 dedicated birders braved snow squalls, white-
outs, poor visibility and temperatures of -17
degrees (-25 with wind chill) to participate in
the Wiarton CBC. Several area roads were closed
but they came anyway.

41 species were located including 3 new species
for the count - Tundra Swan, Merlin and White-
crowned sparrow. Numbers were very low for all
raptors, waterfowl, and gulls. New low records
were set for Rock Pigeon, Snow Bunting and House
sparrow.
