Among other birds seen in the Cranberry area on Saturday morning--N.Goshawk, N.Shrike, Brown Creeper, 3 Song Sparrows, many House Finches, 2 Swamp Sparrows, 3 White-throated Sparros, many Am.Tree Sparrows.
The waters of Cranberry had a skin of ice-- Great Blue Heron and a few Canada Geese, Mallards -- no Snow Geese In the Lynde Shores woodlot (east of Hall's Rd.)-- RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER As for GOLDIE-- the very cold west winds and feeding along the NORTH PATHWAY seem to have brought him/her, along with 3 White-throated Sparrows, with which he/she (!!!) is often associated, seems to have sufficed as a Pied-piper, bringing "our bird" to the pathway near the platform; indeed, on occasion it (!!!) has been seen below the big feeder just inside the north pathway entrance. Today Goldie came out many times (every 15-20 minutes) between 0815 and 1000, after which it hadn't been seen up to 1100 when I left. Today was the first time that our friend, in front of 20 visitors, elected to pose on a cattail leaf near the platform for 3 minutes very close to everyone--great view of all features. >From the west exit 401 at Salem Rd.(in Ajax), south to Bayly, east through LakeRidge to the first street (Hall's Rd.), south to the FIRST roadside parking area. Just remember that if he is not on the north pathway he could be over on the south one. >From the east exit 401 at Brock St. (in Whitby), south to Victoria, west to Hall's Rd. Doug Lockrey, Whitby
