Brisk northwesterlies, cool temps, cold wind chill and very good visibility. Observations: The day started well with an immature Golden Eagle the first bird through. It then became rather mundane, with 2-3 birds an hour. One interesting observation was that all of the 10 Red-tailed hawks were adult birds. The local pair of adult Bald Eagles put in a brief appearance but stayted out of camera range, unlike their youngster who obliged with a nice low and slow fly over. Few passerines in the heavy wind. 45 Goldfinches, 13 Red-winged black birds, 3 Tree sparrows, 27 tundra swans heading west. The local birds included 1 Great Blue Heron, very few waterfoul (I suspect they were sheltering from the high winds out of sight in the weed beds.) Predictions: Brisk west-southwest winds with variable cloudiness. Some precipitation likely as the day wears on. A little warmer than today with high near 6C. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Claude Radley ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/
