At 11:45 p.m., Jean Iron (with Ron Pittaway, Rob Dobos and Kevin (friend of
Jean & Ron's))spotted a California Gull off
the beach sitting in the water in front of Hutch's restaurant. The bird stayed
for about 45 minutes and then flew east
toward Confederation Park out of sight. There were a number of gulls at
Confederation so people may check there.
Thanks to Jean!

For the 14th consecutive day the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW has made appearances
near the platform of the south pathway at Cranberry Marsh in Whitby. This
farwest bird has been appreciated by so very many visitors, and today the
cold strong winds brought it in more frequently. For those who have not yet
seen the bird, bear in mind that your wait may range from 2 minutes to over
an hour, but it is well worth it. Today it "posed" in a Red-osier Dogwood
for 3 minutes before hopping down on to the pathway to feed.
Other birds there--1 Fox Sparrow, many Tree Sparrows, 1 Song Sparrow, a few
White-throated Sparrows, House Finch and an imm. N.Shrike.

>From the west--exit 401 at Salem (in Ajax), south to Bayly, east through
LakeRidge to the first street(Hall's Rd.), south to the second roadside
parking area.
>From the east--exit Brock St., Whitby, south to Victoria, west over to
Hall's Rd.

At 11a.m. I took a break to visit the wetlands on the Pick. townline-- in
the midst of many Canada Geese was the Greater White-fronted Goose. If there
are few Geese (they tend to fly in afrer mid-AM) he probably will not be
there.

Exit 401 at White's Rd. in Pickering-- north to Finch Ave., west 2 km.,
driving alongside Amos Pond, turn north up the Townline, over the RR
tracks--wetlands on the west side.
