A telephone call today alerted me to a possible selasphorus hummingbird coming to a feeder in Niagara Falls. The homeowner has provided me with photographs that I have forwarded to ID Frontiers for assistance with identification. John black and I saw the bird late this morning and we feel it is perhaps a female Rufous or Broad-tailed. The homeowner, Janice Haynes, welcomes birders to visit, but asks that everyone when entering her backyard stay well back and behind a few lawn chairs set up as a barrier. The bird has apparently been there since early September, starts feeding around 7:00 am, making numerous visits to the feeders until sunset, and seems to favour the middle feeder. Her address is 4579 Peach Avenue, Niagara Falls, ON.

Turn left and proceed one block to Peach Street to 4579, the second or third house on your right.
