Hi Birders,
Since nobody has posted yet, the Black-necked Stilt was still present at
Ridgetown lagoons at sunset. It was just off the viewing platform along the
edge. The Hudsonian Godwit was still in its favourite location in the same
cell.
It was an excellent day for birding. Steve Charbonneau, Jim Burk and I took
a look at the Golden-crowned Sparrow first thing in the morning at Cranberry
marsh. The Redpolls were a bonus there just as we were leaving.
We then went to Humber Bay Park and studied loons. The Pacific Loon was
still present there in late morning. We then went to Fifty Point and saw a
grebe species! It was too far to tell whether it was the Western or not.
The Stilt was a bonus as it was on the way home anyway.

Directions: Ridgetown is about 30 minutes east of Chatham. From Highway 401,
exit at County Road 21 (exit 109) and head south to Ridgetown. From the
main corner in downtown Ridgetown (intersection of Erie Street and Main
Street) follow Erie Street north for ~1.5 km to the intersection of Erie
Street and Mitton Line/Palmer Street. Turn left onto Mitton Line/Palmer
Street and just past the fertilizer plant which is on the north side of the
street, you will see the sewage lagoons on the south side of the street. Do
not go beyond the fence. The stilt is visible from the viewing stand.
