The second Great Gray Owl of this fall in Algonquin Park was observed in the Park Interior near Hogan Lake on November 6 by wolf researchers. It is likely that others will be encountered in southern Ontario soon.
Pine Grosbeak, Purple Finch, White-winged Crossbill, Common Redpoll, Pine Siskin, American Goldfinch, and Evening Grosbeak have been observed in small numbers along Highway 60 during the last ten days, but none of these are numerous. A Marten has started visiting a feeder at the Visitor Centre at km 43 on Highway 60, to eat mixed seed. Directions: Algonquin Park is three hours north of Toronto, via Highways 400, 11 and 60. Follow the signs, which start in Toronto on Highway 400. Ron Tozer Naturalist, Algonquin Park (retired)
