200+ came from "all over" to view the Golden-crowned Sp. and help us with
the RW
Weather:
WNW winds; overcast, becoming nearly cloudless, then clouded again skies;
13C; TUV=100 ft./min.; rising BP
Observations:
after 2 days of 15 or more hanging-around buteos we finally observed
decisions to migrate, albeit not until 11AM: 1 molting male N.Harrier
(brown back), 4 Sharp-shinned, 1 Cooper's , 2 N.GOSHAWK, 21 Red-tailed, 9
Rough-legged, 1 UR
The RL total is now 217, 5 short of the record 1991 year.
1 1st yr. GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW (IT ARRIVED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON)--every 12
minutes this bird appeared on our feeding path with other passerines-- at
least 200 visitors came throughout the day
