The Western Grebe was being seen close to shore from 7:30 a.m. until the time I left at 9:00 a.m. at Fifty Point C.A. The water is quite choppy so people were looking for the Pacific Loon with some difficulty. Excellent view of the grebe, well worth the trip.
Directions to Fifty Point C.A.: Take QEW Niagara to Fifty Road. Head toward the lake and take the North Service Road around to the first road which branches off left (sorry forgot the name). There is a sign here pointing to the Conservation Area. Enter the Fifty Point C.A. (there is a $5.00 charge) and follow signs to the marina or go to viewing points out on the east side of the park. You may also park at the end of Kelson Road and walk down to the beach. The bird has been seen between the marina and the DND property about 150 m out. Be patient, sometimes it disappears. Cheers, Cheryl Edgecombe
