Winds were generally light throughout the day, initially from the north-northwest but coming around to the east-northeast by the mid afternoon and picking up slightly. Observations: The flight picked up quickly in mid morning and stayed steady, increasing sharply in mid afternoon when the skies cleared. Large kettles of Red-tails began to move through at that time with groups numbering 50, 60, 70 birds or more. Although not the magnitude of the Broad-wing groups, these large kettles of Red-tails are still impressive in their own right. Several other species saw their largest movements of the season so far: Northern Goshawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, Golden Eagle and Rough-legged Hawk. Also today, it was nice to see some small groups of Tundra Swans finally migrating into the area. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/
