For 3 hours this Oct. 19 morning 144 raptors came through Cranberry on 3 fronts; this in spite of a Thermal Updraft Velocity of only 100 ft./min.!!--were these "left-overs" from the big flight of yesterday?!!! Another parameter that we do not associate with a large hawk migration along the lake was a NNE wind-- but, it was strong.
Up to 10 observers were pleased to see 5 Golden Eagles , 1 Bald Eagle, 7 Rough-leggeds and 3 N.Goshawks (these accipiters are phenomenal to watch) among the 144 migrating raptors. Exit 401 at Salem, south to Bayly, east through LakeRidge, continuing to the first street south (Hall's Rd.), down to the second roadside parking area. Doug Lockrey, coordinator CMRW
