Observation start time: 07:30:00
Observation end time: 17:00:00
Total observation time: 9.5 hours

Official Counter: Calvin Brennan

Observers: Jeff Schultz

Weather:
Clearing took place early in the day after last nights rain. Conditions
were partially cloudy until about noon after which there were virtually no
clouds. The winds picked up early out of the west and were moderate to
strong from the west-northwest for much of the remainder of the day.

Observations:
As is often the case when there is wind early, the vultures could be seen
kettling over the Canadian shoreline by the second hour of the count. With
the strong wind, it took this first group quite some time to kettle and
tack their way back and forth before making the crossing over the count
area. Once this group was through, the flight remained steady and heavy
for the rest of the day and into the early evening. There was not a lot of
variety or numbers of other species with the exception of Sharp-shins, of
course, but the flight was highlighted by the fourth Golden Eagle of the
season.
