Hi Everyone
Today, October 8, 2004 I saw and heard a juv. Long-billed Dowitcher near
the gravel bar at the eastend of Amherst Island (KFN property). It was feeding
in a mixed flock of Dunlin, Black-bellied Plover and a few Greater Yellowlegs
just west of the gravel bar. Had no owls in the "Owl Woods" but a nice
concentration of land birds including, Blue-headed Vireo, Gray Catbird and
Eastern Towhee.
At the Amherst Island Marsh there were 2 Virginia Rails, 4 Marsh Wren and
30+ Swamp Sparrows.

                                                                good birding
                                                                Bruce

(20 minute trip) leaves the mainland on the half hour and leaves the island on
the hour. Cost is $5.00 Canadian round trip. There are no gas stations on the
island.
The East End K.F.N. property is at the easternmost part of the island.
